Joy Reid of MSNBC recently tweeted that Republicans would gladly trade tax cuts for the ability to say the “n-word” in public again. The MSNBC host’s tweet was in response to another tweet by her colleague Jason Johnson, who was busy admonishing Bari Weiss over her stance that censorship on college campuses is a serious problem for both sides of the political aisle. For some odd reason Johnson placed race in the conversation when that was not the focus, equating “censorship” with “not being able to say racist things.” Reid agreed with that, then put her own spin on it.
The tweet from Joy Ann Reid is nothing out of the ordinary for her. She says things just like that all of the time on her MSNBC show. Her colleague Jason Johnson and many others on the left-wing “news” station are the exact same way. They accuse anyone on the right of racism while engaging in the very racism they criticize.
Left-wing stations put out halfway-true stories that are presented in a way to change the entire nature of the story. A prime example of “story exaggeration” is the whole Qanon conspiracy theory. MSNBC (and other stations) cover this niche phenomenon as something that the entire GOP embraces when in reality only a handful of people embrace it. Sort of like Scientology. Yes, some people follow Scientology, but the extent of it is obviously not very large in the greater scheme of things.
Coverage of conservative happening on left-wing television has become laughable at this point. Stations like CNN and MSNBC used to be watchable but not so much after the constant Trump-bashing and xenophobic attacks against Russia. People like Joy Reid and others also like to attack online news publications by downplaying them or lumping them into the “crackpot” category. But in reality, online and independent news has grown rapidly over the past few years because of how awful mainstream media has become. The behavior of television on-air “talent” displays just how far the once-mighty mainstream media has fallen.
